“Conflict is inevitable—your anticipation and preparation for dealing with it determines whether your performance and productivity are damaged or enhanced.” |
Robert Fielder, PrincipalRobert Fielder has worked with hospital-based physicians for more than three decades. His career began with two of the large national emergency department contract management services. He has since been recognized as one of the foremost advocates of the “Independent Practice Model.”
In 1985, he founded Physician Staffing Resources, Inc., (PSR). Over the next ten years, he organized (or reorganized) more than thirty emergency medicine and anesthesia practices. The resilience and responsiveness of these Practices was fostered by Robert’s innovations in organizational governance and collective decision-making.
When hospital clients began requiring that their emergency department physician practices accept greater financial risk, PSR took the lead in facilitating that transition. By 2000, the company had become the leading provider of practice management and business management services to independent hospital-based practices.
He continues to advise healthcare executives and physicians on practice formation and operation. In addition to his considerable experience in preparing for and resolving conflicts involving physicians and hospitals, Robert also holds a Masters of Arts degree in dispute resolution. This designation makes him qualified to assist hospitals and their physician vendors with contract negotiation and mediation.
